In Memorium

Yesterday my husband, my mother and I went to a memorial luncheon for a very dear aunt of mine, Arlene Janice Dunning. She was married to my father's brother Ernie for the majority of her life, and shared most of her years between a home in Washington state where she was born and a home in Arizona. She had three children of her own, several grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was loving, nurturing and a wonderful Gardener. She also had a gift. She could spot a four-leaf clover in amazing places. I remember as a young girl watching her pluck one from the yard as if it were nothing and I could search forever, or so it seemed, only to come up empty handed. Her son, my cousin Duane, reminded me of this while he spoke at the gathering. He also read one of her favorite poems...
4 – Leaf Clover Poem
By Ella Higginson
I know a place where the sun is like gold,
And the cherry blooms burst into snow,
And down underneath is the loveliest nook,
Where the four-leaf clovers grow.

One is for HOPE, and one is for FAITH,
And one is for LOVE, you know,
And GOD put another in for LUCK –
If you work, if you wait, you will find the place
Where the four-leaf clovers grow.
Thank you Auntie Arlene, I hope you are finding all the 4-leaf clovers you could imagine. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

Here I am with my Uncle Ernie, my cousin Janice, my
cousin Duane and his wife Connie.
